Helmke Library Tour

Tour Overview 1: Service Desk

The Service Desk provides circulation services by lending books and other library materials. As an IPFW student with a valid Mastodon Card (your official university ID), you may check out most items and renew them in person, by e-mail, or online through IUCAT's My Account. Staff will show you how to use library workstations, photocopiers, debit cards, media viewing & music listening equipment, or microform reader-copiers.

You will also find course reserves at the Service Desk. You must know your course number and instructor's name to use reserves, and show your IPFW ID card to check out items shelved here. Digitized images of most reserves are accessible 24 hours a day through ReservesEXpress from the library's homepage.

Information assistants provide basic reference assistance to help you get started on library research. They can help you locate and interpret library resources such as IUCAT or the major databases and indexes.
