Food and Beverage Policy

Title: Food and Beverage Policy
Category: Public
Source: Library Management Team
Date: March 26, 2002

Rationale

The library is primarily committed to providing easy access to information and an atmosphere conducive to study and research. Food and beverages damage library materials, media, and equipment and detract from the atmosphere that encourages study and research.

The Policy

Food is allowed only in the snack lounge on the first floor and in designated staff areas.

Food or beverages are never permitted in the Student-Access Computing Lab, in the EITC classroom computer lab (LB 440A), or near any public computer workstation.

Beverages in containers with securely fastened lids are allowed in most areas of the library.

Open beverage containers (including paper/styrofoam cups) are not allowed in public areas except in the snack lounge on the first floor and in designated staff meeting rooms and offices, or in direct transit to one of these staff areas.

Users are liable for any damage to library property and equipment caused by food or beverages.
