Searching for Periodical ArticlesThe most efficient way of finding a high-quality periodical article , is to search a periodical database or index that provides descriptive abstracts, subject indexing, and often, the full-text content of articles. Check out the interactive Finding Articles Tutorial to learn the basics of choosing and searching the Academic Search Premier database. Below is a selection of databases useful for your course. ABI/INFORM Suite (ProQuest)
Content: | Includes three ABI/INFORM databases: Global, Trade & Industry, and Dateline. Global covers abstracting and indexing of more than 1,000 current business-related journals with full text for over half of the titles. Also includes directory information on more than 60,000 companies. Trade & Industry offers 700 full-text industry-related publications. Dateline covers local and regional publications including Fort Wayne Business People. Articles indexed in the Deep Backfile date back to the mid-1970s. An online guide is available. |

Academic Search Premier (EBSCOhost)
Content: | Provides abstracts and indexing of articles in nearly 8,000 popular magazines, scholarly journals, and major newspapers, updated daily, in a wide range of fields including business, education, science and technology, health sciences, humanities, and social sciences, with nearly 4,000 titles available full text. Limit to scholarly, peer-reviewed articles or full-text articles only, if desired. Indexing coverage varies, with full-text content for some titles beginning 1975 or earlier, and most titles indexed from the 1990s. A complete list of titles covered is available. |

CQ Researcher (CQ Press)
Content: | CQ Researcher investigates one of the "hot" topics in the news every week and presents concise and well-balanced information from all sides of the issue. Topics range from social and teen issues to environment, health, education and technology. Each report is written by an experienced journalist and includes a "Pro/Con" segment, a chronology, and a bibliography. Full-text reports are available dating back to October 1991. Reports produced since January 1996 are available in PDF format as well. |

Content: | LexisNexis Academic provides full-text access or indexing and abstracting of nearly 6,000 information resources, covering a wide range of subjects including general and political news from U.S. and international sources, corporate news and financial information, industry and market news, federal and state law, law reviews, transcripts of Congressional hearings, medicine and health, state and country profiles, and biographical information. Provides access to major papers in the Guided News Search under General News > Major Papers, including the Christian Science Monitor (1980 to present), Los Angeles Times (current six months), New York Times (Final New York City ed.), including the New York Times Book Review and New York Times Magazine (1980 to present), and Washington Post (1977 to present). Full-text format is ASCII text without graphics. Updated daily. |

JSTOR (scholarly journal collection)
Content: | JSTOR is a searchable collection of the complete back files of more than 700 important scholarly journals. Current issues are not available; a "moving wall" of 1-5 years for each title defines the gap between the most recently published issue and the date of issues available in JSTOR. IPFW subscribes to the following collections: Arts and Sciences I, Arts and Sciences II, Arts and Sciences III, Arts and Sciences IV, Arts and Sciences Complement, Ecology & Botany, and Health & General Sciences. Browse the tables of contents for each title in the collection, or search the full text and abstracts of articles using keywords or author's name. JSTOR titles are also linked from IUCAT Catalog (Indiana University's online library catalog) records. |
