Williams, Ernest E.

Mr. Williams was a graduate of Fort Wayne South Side High School and Indiana University. He joined  The News-Sentinel staff in 1945 and was its editor from 1966 until 1982. In that year the newspaper was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for its coverage of the 1982 flood. In 1983 he was appointed coordinator of IPFW's journalism program until his retirement in 1987. Mr. Williams died on April 9, 1989. The Williams Theatre was named for him. He was well known for his fashion trademark of red socks and bow ties.
