Known as "Chuck" Lawshe Dr. Lawshe was dean of university extension at Purdue University when IPFW opened in 1964. He became vice president for Regional Campus Administration at Purdue in 1966 and is credited for many academic programs that were expanded at the Fort Wayne campus as well as for chairing a committee that ultimately gained academic autonomy for the Purdue programs. Dr. Lawshe retired in 1974. Lawshe Drive was named in his honor.
