The first team was formed in 1968 with Charles P. Frank, assistant professor in the English Department as the first coach. Hal Prickett and Dave Hey were coaches in 1973. In 1977 Phillip A. Kennell coached the team with Bill Arnold and Carl Luebbert. Source: Current (December 1992), 34.
