Frederick Lawson Hovde was President of Purdue University from January 1946 until 1971. He received degrees from Oxford University (B.A., B.S. in chemistry, 1932; M.A., 1942). In addition,he received over twenty honorary doctoral degrees in various disciplines from colleges and universities throughout the United States.
