Finding Current Information...using databases & indexes, alerting services (some may require free registration), journals to browse
Find a link to more than 20,000 online licensed journals available on or off campus to IPFW students, faculty, and staff through Helmke Library's E-Journal Finder. Search by exact journal title or keywords in journal titles, or browse for journals under broad subjects. Look under Social Sciences > Anthropology or under Health & Biological Sciences > Medicine or Public Health subject categories.
All online and printed journals available to IPFW library users are included in IUCAT Catalog (Indiana University's online library catalog). See especially the comprehensive literature reviews published in Annual Review of Anthropology. For example: Dressler, William W., Kathryn S. Oths, and Clarence C. Gravlee. 2005. "Race and Ethnicity in Public Health Research: Models to Explain Health Disparities." Annual Review of Anthropology 34(1):231-52.

Discovering Books...using library catalogs, bibliographies
A quick way to narrow your search results in large multidisciplinary databases is to add some or all of these anthropology-related terms to your search strategy: (your keywords or subject terms) and (anthrop$ or ethno$ or social or sociolog$ or behavior$ or cross cultur$ or transcultur$ or primitive or magic$ or folk$ or holistic or alternative or therap$)
This example works well in IUCAT Catalog (Indiana University's online library catalog). Remember to include the correct truncation symbol for the database you are using, whether an asterisk (*), question mark (?), dollar sign ($), etc.
For help in constructing effective Boolean search strategies, see Helmke Library's Foraging for Information Worksheet (PDF).
