Contains nearly 400 film scripts dating from 1903 to present with comprehensive information on people, characters, and scenes related to each script. The site allows searching for individual writers and scripts, and also specific scenes or characters to study structure, character formation, plot, and scene development. When completed, it will contain 1,000 digitized and indexed film scripts.

This edition of American Film Scripts Online (AFSO) contains 776 scripts by 856 writers together with detailed, fielded information on the scenes, characters and people related to the scripts.

In addition, the database includes over 430 original images of previously unpublished screenplays. When complete, the collection will include more than 1,000 scripts and over 100,000 scenes of life as portrayed in the movies.

AFSO uses PhiloLogic software, developed at the University of Chicago, to enable in-depth browsing and searching of both the bibliographic and the full-text elements within the database.
