Helmke Library offers more than 200 printed and electronic databases and indexes. Many of these resources provide indexing and abstracting of articles in scholarly journals. Several also provide the full text of articles, available in PDF and/or HTML full-text format for printing or downloading.
Many of IPFW's electronic resources are freely accessible from anywhere by all users. A small number of resources are restricted to use on campus, however. Electronic resources with license agreements may be accessed off campus only by authorized users, which means that access is restricted to IPFW students, faculty, and staff with valid university network accounts. Visitors to IPFW are welcome to use these resources within the library.
Access restrictions are described for each electronic resource listed under Helmke Library databases and indexes. Access restrictions include the following options:
- Database available without restriction. Access to these resources is open to all Internet users, regardless of affiliation.
- Database available to authorized IPFW users (on or off campus). Current IPFW students, faculty, and staff with a valid IPFW network account may access these resources via the Internet from any location. To log in from off campus, enter an IPFW network username and password when prompted. Information about university network accounts can be found at www.its.ipfw.edu under "Student Resources" or "Faculty and Staff Resources."
- Database available to authorized IPFW users (on or off campus). Password required. Contact the Service Desk or liaison librarian for more information. Some databases require a special login username and password from all locations.
- Database available at library workstations. Choose Library Resources icon. These resources may only be used from a workstation in the IPFW Helmke Library. Users may access the library's CD-ROM databases by clicking the folder on the desktop labeled "Library Resources" and choosing the icon for the resource.
Major printed indexes are also listed under Helmke Library databases and indexes. To use printed indexes or resources restricted to on-campus use, select More to read about access options within the library.
