Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL) is an electronic reference (or e-reference) collection providing access to the full-text content of nearly 1.8 million documents in more than 200 major reference works published since 2000, including encyclopedias, almanacs, directories, and handbooks.

Full Description:

This e-reference collection contains mostly scholarly encyclopedias selected by librarians because they provide an authoritative overview of a topic or field of research and point users to the relevant literature.  Most articles are written by experts in their fields; the author's name usually appears at the end of encyclopedia entries.  Publishers represented in GVRL include Berkshire, Cambridge, Macmillan, Sage, Scribner, Sharpe, St. James, Thomson-Gale, Wiley, and others.
