November 5: Bernd Fischer, Professor and Chair, Department of History
"Enver Hoxha, the little Stalin of Albania"

Bernd Fischer is professor and chair in the department of history. He received a Ph.D. and an M.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Fischer is a Balkans scholar and expert on Albania. In 2006, he was appointed to the Albanian Academy of Science, the country’s most prestigious intellectual and scientific institution. In 2007, he became a special advisor to the Albanian Royal Court. He is consulted routinely by various government intelligence agencies to analyze the current political climate in the Balkan region.

2009 IPFW Featured Faculty

The 2009 IPFW Featured Faculty Lecture Series will be held on Thursdays during October and November. Lectures will be presented in IPFW Helmke Library on the second floor, from noon to 1 p.m. Admission is free.
