"Moche Human Sacrificial Victims: Their Origins and Implications"




Richard Sutter is professor and chair of the department of anthropology. He received a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia and an M.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo. His areas of interest include South American archaeology, mortuary analysis, prehistoric ethnicity, bio-archaeological theory and methods, and human behavioral ecology. His archeological excavations have been in the Azapa and Camarones valleys of northern Chile, and the Mequegua and Moche valleys of Peru. With funding from a National Science Foundation grant, Sutter conducted research focused on the prehistoric peopling of South America, which he continues to research today.



2009 IPFW Featured Faculty

The 2009 IPFW Featured Faculty Lecture Series will be held on Thursdays during October and November. Lectures will be presented in IPFW Helmke Library on the second floor, from noon to 1 p.m. Admission is free.
