The primary goal of Document Delivery Services (DDS) is to obtain materials not owned by the Helmke Library, but are needed to fill the research needs of IPFW's faculty, students, and staff. DDS is a premier service of the Helmke Library. It employs "best practices" to insure the highest quality service to all its users. The most recent Association of Research Libraries study (2002) of Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery services estimates the cost of this service at $30.00 per item. This represents a significant contribution by the library to the research endeavors at IPFW.
IPFW's Document Delivery Services policies are governed by the American Library Association's Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States and by the policies of state and local cooperatives of which IPFW is a part. In addition, Document Delivery Services complies fully with provisions of the Copyright Revision Act of 1976 (PL 94-553) and its amendments in the processing of its requests.
