Welcome to IPFW's Helmke Library, the only public university library in northeast Indiana. The library's facilities and services are available to IPFW students, faculty, and staff as well as to residents of Indiana. Our aim is to make your search for information as efficient and successful as possible. We provide basic reference assistance all ninety hours per week we are open and specialized consultations with librarians on a drop-in or appointment basis. Start your information search at the Service Desk.
We offer Internet access to a wide variety of resources, including our online catalog (which we share with other Indiana University libraries), more than 30,000 purchased e-resources, including e-journals, databases, and e-reference items, and hundreds of other authoritative free Web sites. We offer our students electronic course reserves and subsidized document delivery services for needed classroom materials not available at IPFW.
We have prepared dozens of course-related guides that address the special information needs and assignments of specific courses. Librarians have also developed disciplinary and subject-oriented library guides that link to important web sites and list useful reference materials available in the library.
The library's Web site provides specialized information centers populated with resources selected and reviewed for authenticity and reliability by library staff. These include Find Resources By...Title, Subject, Type, E-Journal Finder, Public Information Reference Service (PIRS), and mDON, mastodon Digital Object Network. mDON includes an ever growing digital library of IPFW and local community resources.
Our facilities are inviting, clean, safe, and comfortable. They include a student-access computing lab, an electronic information training center, quiet study spaces, and group study areas. A snack/study room with networked computers, vending machines, and restrooms is open 24 hours a day, every day.
We encourage you to visit the library, explore new ideas, ask questions, study. Our staff members are knowledgeable, friendly, and ready to help you succeed in your information foraging pursuits.
