User Responsibilities 

Renewal of DDS Materials

Books and other returnables received through Document Delivery Services are assigned due dates by the lending library. Since document delivery is a cooperative service between libraries, it is imperative that DDS users return books by the due date given by the lending library, or request a renewal before the due date. Requests for renewal of books received through DDS can be made through the library's online document delivery request system. Renewals are granted at the discretion of the lending library. Users will be notified via e-mail when a book cannot be renewed and must be returned.

Overdue DDS Materials

When DDS items become two weeks overdue, the user's DDS privileges will be blocked. After three weeks users will be checklisted, blocked on IUCAT's circulation system, and billed for the cost of replacing the book and a non-refundable overdue/recall fine. If the book is returned before the lending library is paid, the user must pay the $25.00 overdue/recall fine, but will not be responsible for paying for a replacement copy of the item. The user's privileges will remain blocked until the overdue account is settled.

Recalls

All items borrowed through DDS are subject to recall after two weeks. Users will be sent a recall e-mail notice as soon as DDS is notified by the lending library that an item has been recalled. Users have ten days to return a recalled item. After ten days, if the item is not returned, the user's DDS privileges will be blocked. If the item is not returned within two weeks all library privileges will be blocked and the user will be checklisted and billed. The bill will include the cost of replacing the book and a non-refundable $25.00 recall fine. If the book is returned before the lending library is paid, the user must pay the $25.00 overdue/recall fine, but will not be responsible for paying for a replacement copy of the item. The user's privileges will remain blocked until the overdue account is settled.
