Due to critical space problems, effective January 1, 2003, the library will no longer accept gifts of books and serials without prior approval from the Director or the Collection Development Coordinator. Gifts of current browsing magazines, such as Time or Newsweek, are always welcome as are the established Adopt-A-Journal titles. A special need are gifts of new or gently-used DVD's, videos, or music CD's that fit the library's collection policy.

For lists of candidates seeking office in each of the twelve counties in northeast Indiana visit the Elections and Voting section of the Electronic Atlas of Northeast Indiana. After the election, vote tallies will be added to the lists.

The Public Information Reference Service (PIRS) is your gateway to electronic information by and about federal, state, and local government in the United States as well as governments of foreign countries and intergovernmental organizations.

Digital certificates currently used for remote access to INSPIRE databases expire Oct. 28. If you use AOL, Prodigy, AT&T, or another national, regional, or out-of-state Internet service provider, you will need an Inspire password account to access databases such as Academic Search Elite, Business Source Premier, and others. The password is not needed by authorized IPFW users who will be validated by the library's authentification system.

Data on ancestry, disability status, grandparents as caregivers, employment status, poverty status, household size, value of home, and much more is now available on the American FactFinder.

Choose among the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Fahrenheit 451, Fort Wayne is Seventh on Hitler's List, Invisible Man, or Magnificent Ambersons. Vote online or at any Allen County Public Library. The final vote will be made at a special community event on September 27, 2002, 5:30-7:00 p.m. at IPFW's Neff auditorium, Room 101. The public is invited to participate.

Select Collections > New Acquisitions for a list of new library materials added during the previous month. The list is organized by call number (topic).

Click on the My Account button at the top of the IUCAT homepage to view a list of materials you have checked out. Follow instructions to renew any item on the list.

Expand your knowledge of West Nile virus within Allen County using the Helmke Library's Pathfinder to access resources.

Get a head start in the library. Take a virtual tour of the library to learn about our many services and resources. Activate your university computer lab account. Your unique username and password will give you access to many library services such as online reserves and remote access to library databases.

Pick up your Official University ID card in Walb Union. The ID card is your library card, too, good at any Indiana University library statewide. You must bring your card to the library to check out books and other materials.

After August 19 users will be able to review a list of the materials they have checked out and renew their materials online. Keyword searches in the new Online Virtual Library (electronic books and more) will be available.

Nominations can be submitted online or dropped off at the IPFW library or any public library branch. Deadline is August 10. A short list of titles will be announced on August 19.

The regional Future Cities Competition for middle school students will be held on Sat., January 26 in Walb ballroom from 7:30 a.m until 5:00 p.m. Selected models will be on display in the library's 4th floor Science Information Center during the week of January 27.
