We wish all a happy and safe holiday. Library Hours during Winter Break.

New group workstations are now available in the library on the second and fourth floors. You must have an active IPFW network account to use these group workstations and gain access to the library's electronic information resources and all of the software available in the student-access computing lab on the first floor.

The library will be open longer hours during finals week, December 11 - 18.

The library hours for the week of Thanksgiving are:

• Wednesday, November 23, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
• Thursday, November 24, closed
• Friday, November 25, closed
• Saturday, November 26, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
• Sunday, November 27, noon - 11:00 p.m.

Special Needs Funds from the library's endowment are again available this year for specially defined needs such as support for a new program.   Proposals from Non-Arts & Sciences Departments are due November 1, 2005.  More information, including the guidelines and an application for these funds are available on the library's Special Needs Funds Web page (http://www.lib.ipfw.edu/684.html).

The library will be open regular hours during the Fall Break, October 10-11.

Take advantage of all the library has to offer. Get your Mastodon Card in Walb Union and try your luck in the Mastodon Shuffle. Activate your network account so you can use library resources wherever you are. Ask at the Service Desk for help if you need it. And have a great semester.

According to statistics provided by the R.R. Bowker Company, U.S. book production is at an all-time high with over 181,000 new trade books and over 14,000 new university press publications.

With the summer edition, the IPFW Communicator launched its new online site which includes articles that appear in the print version as well as additional news and information.

IPFW librarians and library staff held their first ever round robin session on favorite reference books this spring. Books were chosen for their helpful content, unique approach, favorite format, or just because we liked them! Here are the sources we presented - More ...

Explore the Native Trees of Indiana River Walk a new site provided by the IPFW Physical Plant featuring trees found on the campus of IPFW. The site features a 1.25 mile walking trail (one way) which identifies more than 80 tree species native to Indiana. The Web site offers tree lists by common and scientific name and an interactive map with information about each individual tree species.

MyPyramid.gov is the U.S. Government's new food guidance system and replaces the 1992 Food Guide Pyramid. This service provides a quick estimate of what and how much you need to eat, by entering your age, sex, and activity level. It also provides in-depth nutrition information. Library staff member Deb Haley, Assistant Manager of the Service Desk, has been awarded the 2005 Pride Plus Award for clerical employees from the IPFW Clerical and Service Staff Advisory Council. Read the presentation statement by Joyce Saltsman here.

The library has copies of the most-requested tax forms. Available on the Web are U.S. tax forms, Indiana forms, and tax forms from other states.

The library will be closed on Sunday, March 27.

The library will be open regular hours during spring break, March 7 - 13.

My.IPFW is your own personal IPFW Web site. Login to My.IPFW with your network username and password and use WebCT, OASIS, and library services without having to login again.  Use My.IPFW to forward your university e-mail to your preferred e-mail address.  You'll wonder what you ever did without the new My.IPFW!
